Career Planning - Time to Narrow down on a Career
Ladies and Gent's - we have come a long way.....we have analyzed our personalities and we have researched many careers. We will now move into our second phase and that is to narrow down our career choices. We will first create a newsletter highlighting one of your five choices. Each of you will research a different career. Then we will move onto creating a brochure about the course of study one would have to embark on in order to pursue this career, highlighting what you should be doing NOW in high school and what 21st Century skills must this individual possess. Finally you will shadow someone in a particular career and present your final project in a power point presentation. Here is the most exciting part......your shadowing experience will have to be for a career different from your newsletter and brochure! Let the fun begin!

Career Planning
Welcome to Career Planning
We will explore various careers and each of you will have an opportunity to shadow a professional to find out more about a career you may be interested in. First we will find out which careers match your personality. If you can find a way to earn money doing what you love there is no greater success!
Since this is a 1/2 yr course we will have to focus and prepare for your shadowing experience. Start thinking about three possible career choices and ask around if you or your family may no someone in the field. But no worries, our Smithtown Career Center is the most informative and full of resources and connections.
I will post various websites and information so check in from time to time. The first website I would like everyone to visit is www.careersmarts.com

Welcome to Intro to Finance - the most beneficial course to prepare you for life!
We will be using the NEFE High School Financial Planning Program and will use the workbooks which will be provided

We will first set our SMART goals and move into creating a budget and learn how to manage our finances. The only problem is that there is so little time to cover so many great topics. This is a 1/2 year course, so be ready and be prepared for fun while learning!

Welcome to Introduction to Business
There is so much to learn in this class and so little time since it's a 1/2 yr course.
We will learn new terminology associated with business which will help us create and prepare a business plan for your new business.
There will be assessment exams but also fun projects to be worked on in groups, therefore attendance and good behavior will help us to succeed!
I will use this website to post notes and power points for all of you to refer to. Feel free to e-mail me anytime and extra help is always available upon requests!
Be ready for a fun filled course!

Math and Financial Applications (Business Math)
Welcome to Business Math
We will review basic math skills and we will apply them to the most basic of financial needs
Some of the topics to look forward to are Budgeting, Checking, Savings all of which we need to
use fractions, decimals, adding, subtraction, division and multiplication.
Math to use for a lifetime
The final for this class will be a portfolio project based on all lessons learned through the year. Upon completion of each lesson we will spend some time in the lab and working on the portfolio.
Attendance and Good Behavior are a must for our class to succeed!
